We are delighted that the recordings of Just One World
are now available.
In June 2014, over 250 former choir members and musicians from St Augustine's RC High School, Billington came together with the school's present choir to celebrate their school's 50th Anniversary. The performance (entitled Just One World) featured exclusively 23 songs from our WWF environmental musicals, Yanomamo, African Jigsaw, Ocean World, Arabica, Song of Creation and One Sun One World linked by specially written narrations.
The performance was in aid of Cafod's Connect2 programme. An amazing £25000 was raised! And now, monies raised from the sale of DVD's, Cd's and Mp3 downloads will continue to support the community of Sebeya, in the north of Ethiopia, where drought threatens hundreds of families who rely on farming for survival. The community is fighting back. Local people are building reservoirs and water pipes to keep the fields green and improve the harvests. Over the coming years, there will be an opportunity of real, meaningful communication between the St Augustine's Music Department and members of the Sebaya community; a true feeling of connection will be fostered.
These beautiful audio recordings, made by former BBC sound engineer Harold Barnes, are available from this website as a double CD (click here)
or as individual mp3 downloads (click here)
. After costs have been met, all income from the sale of the recordings will be forwarded to this very special CAFOD project which the school's music department have taken so much to heart. No-one is receiving any royalties, we continue in the spirit of the great Charity Gala event of June 22nd!
